James A. Banks, an internationally-recognized specialist in social studies and multicultural education, will tackle a critical topic facing Americans today from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Cascadia Community College's Mobius Hall.

The lecture, sponsored by Cascadia Community College and University of Washington, Bothell, will focus on the need to rethink the concept of what it means to be a citizen. Banks argues it is important to accommodate new population groups while simultaneously fostering national unity, and will discuss how various countries around the world are approaching the challenge.
