Inglemoor High's Rice to receive distinguished music-educator award
February 1, 2011 · 2:07 PM
Jim Rice, director of Inglemoor High’s orchestra and jazz ensembles, will be one of two music educators presented with the Northwest Division Distinguished Music Educators Service Award at the first general session of the Northwest Music Educators Conference (MENC) on Feb. 18 in Bellevue.
Chosen by past Northwest Division presidents and past recipients, Rice is honored for his service at the local, state and national level. The Northwest Division is composed of music educators from Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
Rice has been a Northshore teacher for 18 years.
“My goal for teaching each child is that they leave high school with the tools and skills to continue making music throughout his or her life. I'd like them to be able to continue the enjoyment of active music making, whether it be in college, church, the community or home," Rice said.
