The University of Washington, Bothell's 2011 commencement marked a milestone in the university’s history as the school awarded its 10,000th degree to student Hilary U.

U graduated with a bachelor of arts in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on culture, literature and the arts. While studying at UW-Bothell, U also found time to work at the university’s writing center and as a student assistant in the office of advancement and external relations.

“I’m so grateful for all the opportunities I had at UW-Bothell,” says U. “It was an excellent learning environment and I’m proud to be the recipient of the 10,000th degree.”

U was involved in numerous extracurricular activities.  Of note, she served as a cabinet member in the National Youth Advisory Cabinet for Campfire USA and served as president of the Family Career Community Leaders of America. U now works for the University of Washington as an advancement-services officer in regional giving.
