Extended work set for SR 520 bridge project

February 26, 2013 · Updated 2:00 PM

The Washington State Department of Transportation and its contractor Kiewit/General/Manson will work extended hours near Lake Washington in Medina from 7 a.m. to midnight daily from Wednesday, Feb. 27 to Friday, March 1.

Crews will work on drilling a 3-foot diameter shaft on land approximately 20 feet from Lake Washington and just north of the existing bridge. The shaft is needed to build a foundation that will support the new bridge maintenance facility pier being constructed beneath the east approach of the new bridge.

During this time, nearby residents may see construction lighting and hear concrete pump trucks, drilling, crane noise, and other machine noise. To limit what residents see and hear, WSDOT and KGM will limit machine idling, directing lighting away from residential areas, and perform the noisiest work during daytime hours.
