Master Gardeners will be on hand to demonstrate organic-gardening techniques and to help find fun ways to get families outside and into the garden. Open houses will take place from 10 a.m. to noon June 28, July 12 and 26, and Aug. 9 and 23.
Freeway station receives praise
The local chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has honored Sound Transit’s Canyon Park Freeway Station as an outstanding example of transportation and development engineering, noting the structure’s design efficiency, as well as the use of simple, low-cost materials to create an attractive facility.
The $11 million station, which opened a year ago, includes a freeway stop on the southbound onramp to Interstate 405 from State Route 527, and a pedestrian bridge that crosses over I-405 and connects to the Canyon Park Park-and-Ride. It is served by Sound Transit and Community Transit express buses.
The local chapter of the ASCE annually reviews local engineering projects for excellence in areas including innovative design and functionality.
