Thanks to the efforts by the Fernwood Elementary School PTA, Fernwood students will start the school year with new playground equipment. A celebration to thank community partners for their support will be held Friday 2-2:30 p.m., on the Fernwood Elementary School playground, 3933 Jewell Rd., Bothell.

The PTA raised $80,000 to purchase and install new playground equipment to replace old, broken and outdated playground equipment. The PTA raised the funds through an auction and student coin drive. The PTA also received a $15,200 Snohomish County Small Capital Projects Partnership grant. Grants were awarded to public entities for small capital projects in Snohomish County.
