Possession of

stolen property

Police responded about 9 p.m. to a report of a man driving a motorized grocery store shopping cart northbound on 68th Avenue Northeast. Police caught up with the suspect a little less than a mile away from the Safeway store from which the cart allegedly was taken.

According to police reports, the suspect was intoxicated and told officers he took the cart “because I’m an idiot and I was going home.”

The man, 23, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving without a license. Charges regarding the cart are pending.

Attempted robbery

The victims, two Asian men, say they were approached around 9:30 p.m. in the 7100 block of Northeast 170th Street by three male suspects. The trio demanded money, but the suspects said they acted as if they did not understand English. The would-be robbers ran off, but not before one of the victims allegedly was struck in the face. Police said the victims could not supply much of a description of the suspects, but said they were juveniles, one white, one African-American and one Hispanic.
