The Lake Washington College Foundation has awarded 56 student scholarships totaling more than $38,000 for the 2008-09 college year. The scholarships range in size from $250 to $2,000 and help Lake Washington Technical College (LWTC) students with tuition, fees, books and child care.

Four Bothell residents earned scholarships:

• Rachelle Kiesel, a student in LWTC’s nursing program, who received the New Horizons for Women Award and a West Gate Masonic Lodge Award.

• Sarrah Johnson, a student in LWTC’s dental-assistant program, who also received a West Gate Masonic Lodge Award.

• Donna Jordan-Bowen, a student in LWTC’s nursing program, who received the Johanna Price Service Award.

• Wendi Shively, a student in LWTC’s dental-hygiene program, who received the Freddie Denton Award.

At Washington State University, siblings Melissa and David Street of Bothell received scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year at Washington State University.

Melissa received a $1,000 Robert and Wendy Bates Honors College Scholarship.

David received a $1,000 Jensen Scholarship.
