Citizen’s Academy on tap March-May

The Kenmore Police Department will host the annual Citizen’s Academy from 6-9 p.m. every Thursday beginning March 5 and running through May 7.

The program will be held at King County Sheriff’s Office Precinct Two, 18118 73rd Ave. N.E. The academy is sponsored by the Kenmore, Woodinville and Shoreline police departments, along with the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials advertise the academy as a great way to gain a better understanding of police work and the resources available to citizens. According to information released by Kenmore police, the 10-week course covers a variety of topics including: defensive tactics, traffic enforcement, major accident investigations, drug investigations and marine patrols, among other issues. Applications are available by sending an e-mail to mark.childers@kingcounty.gov.

Limited spots are available for Kenmore residents and business owners. The course is free.
