Brent Smith introduces Mayor David Baker at last Saturday's Families for Active Parks (FAPK) picnic at Rhododendron Park in Kenmore. Other speakers were Kenmore City Councilmembers Laurie Sperry and Alan Van Ness and Bastyr University chief of staff Greg Goode, who discussed the university's ongoing commitment to the community in providing facilities like baseball fields as part of their master plan. Picnic goals were: • To bring Kenmore families together that value active recreation in the community • To bring recognition to Kenmore candidates that support active-use parks • To inform the community about FAPK — a proponent and advocate for the development of recreational facilities in Kenmore. FAPK is a nonprofit registered with the state of Washington and has no political affiliations. At Monday's meeting, City Council approved a new basketball court at Rhododendron Park in line with the pre-approved city master plan.
