November 2, 2009 · 5:47 PM
Northshore Fire Department officials say crews were dispatched around 12:47 a.m. Oct. 25 to deal with a structure fire in a single wide mobile home at Perkins Mobile Home Park in Kenmore.
Reports say a neighbor had called 911 to report smoke and flames coming from the home.
According to information released by the Northshore Department, as firefighters responded from Station 51, they could see a large column of smoke. They arrived moments later to find the mobile home on fire and the occupant outside walking around in the driveway.
The male occupant, approximately 40 years old, reportedly was covered in soot. He was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to Harborview Medical Center for additional medical care.
Fire Marshal Jeff LaFlam stated, “The fire started in a bedroom/office and appears to be accidental. The investigation into the specific cause is ongoing.”
Damage to the mobile home and contents is estimated at $50,000 and is considered to be a total loss due to fire and smoke damage.
