Foundation offers 77 student scholarships

The Northshore Scholarship Foundation, entering its 26th year of operations serving students of the Northshore School District, will offer $155,400 in grants to 2010 graduates.

Even in light of a tepid investment picture over the past year, the total of 77 scholarships is slightly more and with greater value than the past year, foundation President Eric Barnum noted. The grants are made possible through 50 scholarship-generating endowments managed by the foundation, as well as through its three supporting service clubs: Northshore Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club of Northshore and Woodinville Rotary Club.

A complete list describing the scholarships, their values and criteria is posted here. Program coordinator Sally Barnum will be meeting with parents, career counselors and interested students at upcoming school meetings planned to assist seniors with their post-graduation plans.

The scholarship values range from a minimum of $1,500 to as high as $7,500 with several renewable for the balance of a student’s work toward a college degree or completing an accredited certificate program in a specialty field.

“We support a wide range of study interests,” Eric Barnum noted, “from those science majors who dream of discovering a cure for cancer to others whose career path might be in business, the arts, music, teaching, health services or keeping pace with the growing demands of automotive technology.”
