Gov. Chris Gregoire recently appointed Dr. Julie Miller to serve on the Cascadia Community College Board of Trustees. Her term runs through September 2014.
“Cascadia is in a really nice position to do some exciting things. I’m looking forward to learning and listening and seeing how I can serve the board with my experience and expertise,” says Miller.
A Woodinville resident, Dr. Miller served on the board of governors of the University of Southern California from 2001 to 2009, is an adviser for Junior League of Seattle and Women Business Owners, sits on the board of Friends of the Orphans and belongs to the Seattle Rotary. She was awarded the 2008 Women Business Owners Excellence Award, the Helen Thayer Woman of the Year Award in 2002 and has been voted Volunteer of the Year twice for her work with the YMCA.
Dr. Miller is the founder and president of Business Writing That Counts!, as well as an author, speaker and trainer. She received a doctorate in educational leadership from Seattle University and undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Southern California.
“I’m really passionate about education. Anyone who has the desire to learn should have the opportunity to get the training and skills they need. If you can help people achieve their dreams and goals, that’s what it’s all about,” says Miller.
