February 24, 2010 · 5:20 PM
The Canyon Park Junior High 70-voice symphonic choir has been selected to sing in concert with the professional Seattle orchestra, Philharmonia Northwest.
The concert is set for 2:30 p.m. March 14 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 405 N.E. 45th St., Seattle.
The choir will be performing the seven-movement "Vesperae pro festo Sanctissimae Innocentium" by Johann Michael Haydn featuring the full choir, as well as student soloists.
The three choirs at Canyon Park have taken first place or received superior ratings at every festival they have attended since director Ailisa Newhall's arrival in 2006. Many of the students take private lessons and are involved in area choirs and music ensembles outside of school.
For tickets, call (206) 675-9727. Tickets also available at the door while they last. General admission seats are $18; $12 for students and seniors.
