Thank you Maywood Hills, from a local veteran | Letter

A local veteran expresses gratitude for a veterans event at Maywood Hills Elementary School

To witness, to be part of a celebration for veterans put on by the students and teachers of Maywood Hills Elementary School in Bothell was an inspiration. My second time attending, this celebration honoring vets was even more moving. I’m still astounded at the effort in this.

Most of the veterans attending, like me, were old guys — self-effacing individuals not used to a lot of gratitude being paid. We were all types, from all branches of the service, having served during the more recent wars. I really enjoyed being part of and watching the reactions from everyone.

Thank you Maywood Hills Elementary School. The honor of attending is mine, we old veterans finally getting thanked in a way never expected.

Tom Berry,

Bothell
