Bothell student serves as page in House of Representatives

Melissa Barker, a student at Bothell High School, served as a page this week in the Washington State House of Representatives.

Barker was sponsored by State Rep. Shelley Kloba (D-Kirkland), and is the daughter of Michelle and Abram Barker of Bothell. Pages have a wide variety of responsibilities, from presenting the flags to distributing amendments on the House floor.

In addition to contributing to the efficient operation of the Legislature, pages receive daily civics instruction, draft their own bills and participate in mock committee hearings. Barker is interested in travel and said she has loved every second of being a House page.
