King County Council recognizes ARCH’S Arthur Sullivan

Executive director of A Regional Coalition for Housing retires after three decades.

The Metropolitan King County Council recognized retiring executive director of A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH), Arthur Sullivan on Oct. 29.

Sullivan was committed to the construction and preservation of diverse housing for low and moderate-income communities. For nearly three decades, his focus was to ensure housing was available for all people who wanted to live in the cities and neighborhoods of East King County.

“We are so fortunate to have benefited from Arthur Sullivan’s leadership and expertise, and we will miss him. He brought and held many cities together in a common cause to provide affordable housing to the Eastside and many residents are better off because of it,” council vice chair and sponsor of the recognition Claudia Balducci said in a press release.

Sullivan helped create ARCH in 1993, and has served as its executive director. ARCH uses a teamwork approach to solving local housing issues. It assists member governments in developing housing policies, strategies, programs and development regulations. ARCH also helps coordinate the cities’ financial support to groups creating affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households. ARCH also helps people look for affordable rental and home ownership.
