Scouting for food: Bothell’s Seeley collects donations for local food bank

The food drive was for the Boy Scout’s Eagle Scout project.

Parker Seeley, a senior at Bothell High School and member of Boy Scout Troop 356, recently ran a food drive for his Eagle Scout project.

Seeley and other members of his troop collected 3,143 pounds of food and $390 in gift cards for the Canyon Hills Community Church Food Bank. The food bank gives out 2,500-3,000 pounds of food each week.

Seeley and his troop members collected food both at Fred Meyer and door-to-door on Halloween.

“We live in a very generous community,” he said.

He decided to do a food drive for his Eagle project because he believes everyone should have enough food. Seeley has turned in his Eagle application and is awaiting a board of review to determine if he will make Eagle rank.
