Due to a fallen tree tangled in a high-voltage transmission line, about 9,500 customers in the Bothell and north Kenmore areas were without power this morning, according to Puget Sound Energy media-relations official Meghan Fitzpatrick.

At post time, power has been restored to all but about 100 customers.

At about 6:50 a.m. this morning, the highline feeding two substations malfunctioned, Fitzpatrick said.

Transmission lines bring power from generation sources to substations, then from substations to distribution lines and out to customers.
