Jay Inslee, 1st Congressional District representative, simply wrote, "I'm in," to his 6,801 Facebook friends on Monday morning after announcing that he will run for Washington's governor's seat at a press conference at Targeted Growth, Inc. in Seattle.

Inslee, a Democrat, and Republican Attorney General Rob McKenna are the top two candidates for the spot, which Gov. Chris Gregoire will step down from after holding for two terms.

On Tuesday, Inslee was scheduled to make stops in Tacoma, Vancouver and Spokane to discuss his run for governor.

"While considering this race, I have been humbled by the encouragement I've received from supporters like you from Port Angeles to Pullman. I'm excited to embark on this journey with you as we strive together to build a Washington that works today and into the future," he wrote.

State Rep. and Kirkland resident Roger Goodman announced early Monday morning that he will run for Congress in the 1st Congressional District instead of the 8th Congressional District. The Democrat's decision to switch comes on the heels of Inslee's announcement that he will run for governor.
