Peg Dowd, owner of Shannon's Flowers and Gifts in downtown Bothell, has retired and closed her family's business after 50 years.

"Peg has given a huge contribution to the Bothell community," said Kim Horton, a friend and former Shannon's employee.

Dowd's last day of business was Oct. 12. Her father, Bill Shannon, bought the business in 1961; previous owners were Mildred Keeney and the Evans family.

Story to come.
