Lane closures for Bothell bridge repair
January 8, 2013 · 9:57 AM
The 102nd Avenue N.E. bridge in downtown Bothell has been reduced to one lane of traffic until 5 a.m. on Thursday. Alternate routes are encouraged.
Additional damage was discovered last night when repair work began and the bolted steel plates were removed.
Additionally, overnight lane closures of SR 522 between SR 527 and Kaysner Way are anticipated to occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. every night through Friday.
General traffic will be detoured onto Main Street and Kaysner Way to bypass the closure area. Only transit, transit riders and local business access will be allowed through the closure area, and all bus stops will remain open. A load limit on the bridge remains in effect to prohibit vehicles weighing over 15 tons gross vehicle weight (gvw) from using the bridge with one exception. All emergency vehicles, during response, are allowed continued use of the bridge.
The 102nd Avenue N.E. bridge was damaged when the driver of a tractor trailer, hauling a track hoe, left the boom of the track hoe up on December 3. As he passed under the bridge the boom hit the underside of the overpass.
The impact caused significant damage to the bridge, estimated to be between $150,000 and $175,000.
