Rollover wreck snarls SR-522 traffic | Photo

While heading east on State Route 522, Bothell driver Irene Byers, 88, hit a truck in front of her and flipped her 1993 Chrysler Concorde just before 5 p.m. July 1. She suffered non-life-threatening facial and bodily injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. According to Bothell Police Department Patrol Operations Capt. Henry Simon, Byers drove into the left turn lane at Northeast 180th Street, but swerved to the right and hit the truck. She was driving about 35 mph. It took about an hour and 15 minutes for several Bothell Fire Department units to extract Byers from her car and police to reopen SR 522 to traffic. Police closed five lanes and drivers were re-routed around the scene. The truck driver, a 30-year-old Bothell male, received minor injuries, as did another female driver involved in the accident. - Bothell Traffic Department photo
