Happy Blue Friday!
More than 600 Kenmore Junior High students, staff and parents formed the world’s largest human 12th Man flag to build Seahawks spirit for this week’s NFC Championship game.
The ninth graders wore white to form the number 12, seventh and eighth graders wore blue and the teachers, parents and community members wore gray to form the flag pole. Kenmore Air donated the plane and pilot for the aerial photograph which was taken by Kenmore photographer Joe Tomas.
"Doing something like this is good for participation because it increases spirit and brings the community together over a common interest," said Kimberlee Armstrong, Kenmore Junior High principal. "The way the community jumped on board shows it was the right decision."
Last week the students formed a smaller 12th Man photograph, which was tweeted by Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and the NFL prior to the Seahawks' NFC playoff appearance.
"The students were excited," Armstrong said. "I received messages from community members and parents voicing their support and pride in Kenmore."
Kenmore Junior High administration met this week to plan this event.
"We wanted to do something bigger to make a statement," Armstrong said. "Just when you think you have done something big, you can always top it. A great life lesson."
