Jesse Bruce, 32, appeared in a Coast Guard handout that was nationally publicized.

Bruce grew up in Bothell and has been working for the Coast Guard for more than 13 years.

"The best experience in the Coast Guard is having my wife and kids that support me daily in my endeavors pin on my anchors as I advanced to CPO," Bruce said. "Without them the other great things my shipmates and I do daily to serve others wouldn’t be possible."

Bruce has been stationed in California, Los Angeles, Washington and is now in Virginia.
