Inglemoor DECA students take first place at competition

The Inglemoor High School DECA program won first place at the state DECA marketing competition held March 6-8 in Bellevue.

This means Inglemoor earned an invitation to the coveted DECA International Career & Development Conference in Atlanta, GA May 2-7.

The top 20 percent of the state’s marketing/DECA students (over 3,600 in total) from 175 Washington State high schools gathered at the Meydenbauer Center in downtown Bellevue to compete in the annual Washington DECA State Career Development Conference. During the three-day conference, students demonstrate individual and team marketing skills in one or more of the 43 business and marketing events, in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and entrepreneurship. Students have been learning how to solve case studies as individuals or in teams, or have written a business

report on a specific topic.

In both situations, the young marketers were to use their business knowledge to analyze business situations, and then role-play the solution to local business professionals. Over 600 business professionals were on hand to help judge the competitions. Inglemoor has enjoyed an unparalleled

tradition of winning at the state level, as this is Inglemoor’s 15th First Place finish in the last 16 years.
