First District Rep. Luis Moscoso (D-Mountlake Terrace) received the Tikkun Olam Award for Public Service last week at the annual meeting of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle.
“I believe that Washington should be a safe and welcoming community where everyone, regardless of race or religion, should be able to pursue their American Dream,” Moscoso said. “I am humbled by the recognition of my work towards making that vision a reality.”
Named after the traditional Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam, or ‘repair the world,’ this award is presented annually by the Federation to an elected or public official who has demonstrated a clear commitment to the hopes and needs of Washington’s Jewish community.
“It is a great honor to receive this award,” Moscoso said. “I hope to continue working with the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle to improve the quality of life here in Washington state.”
