Free nature walks at Wallace Swamp Creek Park extended through October
Kenmore residents can observe all aspects of the natural world with a specific focus on 35 plus species of birds, both year-round residents and neotropical migrants that are frequently seen in Wallace Swamp Creek Park, located at 19851 73rd Ave. NE.
Nature walks will occur on the first Monday of each month at 9 a.m. through Oct. 6, 2014. Participants should check the city website, www.kenmorewa.gov/events, the day prior of the nature walk just in case the walk is canceled due to weather or to instructor absence. This activity is courtesy of volunteer instructor Linda Phillips.
Dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear for a 1.5 to 2 hour walk over 2 miles of paved and primitive trails through the 25-acres of Wallace Swamp Creek Park. Bring binoculars to better view the birds and other wildlife. Insect repellent is suggested for walks during the summer months.
