A Shoreline Fire Department Chevy Suburban command car collided with a 2005 Ford Explorer at about 4:10 p.m. Nov. 19 on State Route 522 at 61st Avenue Northeast in Kenmore.

Both drivers suffered non-serious injuries in the wreck, which snarled traffic for more than two hours on SR 522 just outside the Bothell city limits through 61st.

Fire, aid and police were on the scene.

The Ford, driven by a 57-year-old Lynnwood man, was eastbound on about the 5700 block of SR 522 when it and other traffic pulled over to let a fire-department medic unit go by. The Ford pulled back onto SR 522 and into the left turn lane for 60th Avenue Northeast.

When the Ford turned, it was hit by the command car going eastbound in the westbound lanes, running with lights and siren.

The accident is still under investigation and no tickets were issued.
