A Bothell teen, 13, was home from Harborview Medical Center April 12.

But Bothell Police Public Information Officer Capt. Denise Langford said the juvenile male suffered serious injuries in a traffic mishap that happened just before 3 p.m. April 8.

The incident took place on State Route 522 in Bothell, just east of the intersection of State Route 527.

Langford said a car left the road for unknown reasons, struck a utility pole and then rebounded into the teenager.

The driver of the car, a Kenmore man, 50, apparently was not injured.

Langford said the cause of the accident still is under investigation. She said alcohol had been ruled out as a factor, but added medication the driver is taking may have played a part. Langford said police are waiting on a warrant to search the car involved, as well as some lab results.

The accident closed SR 522 in both directions for several hours as crews investigated the scene and waited on repairs to the utility pole.
