Bothell residents hold vigil in response to Charlottesville

On Monday evening, Indivisible Bothell sponsored a vigil in front of Bothell City Hall to remember those who were killed and injured in Charlottesville, Virginia last weekend.

On Aug. 12, a “Unite the Right” rally of white nationalists and other right-wing groups was held in Charlotesville. In response to the rally, peaceful protesters marched in downtown Charlotesville when a when a silver Dodge Challenger barreled through the crowds, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injuring dozens more. In addition, two Virginia State Patrol troopers were killed later that day in a helicopter crash while assisting with public safety resources in Charlottesville.

There were about 30 people in attendance at Monday’s vigil in Bothell.

“Parents brought their children and we shared our thoughts and concerns. We lit candles in memory and walked down to Bothell Way in solidarity and peace,” said Judy Gratton, who attended the event. “It was a wonderful evening of peaceful protest against hate.”
