Community Transit hosts virtual public meeting on service expansion proposal, March 14

Community Transit will host its first virtual public meeting to share information and take questions on the September 2017/March 2018 Service Expansion Proposal. The virtual meeting will take place from 6-7 p.m. on March 14.

Community Transit has proposed to increase bus service by six percent in the next year. Details are available at www.communitytransit.org/ProposedService. Public comment on the proposal runs through April 7.

Anyone can participate in the virtual public meeting, which will consist of a 15-minute presentation on the service expansion proposal, then a lengthy Q&A session with the agency’s service planners. Information on how to log onto the session by computer or mobile device are available at www.communitytransit.org/VirtualMeeting.

The proposal would expand service in September 2017 and March 2018, bringing Snohomish County bus riders improved transit connections, a new route to the Paine Field manufacturing area, more weekday trips to Seattle and UW, and improved Sunday bus service with more frequent buses and later hours on some routes.

A proposed extension of Route 105 would mimic the Paine Field routing of the Swift Green Line, a second bus rapid transit line scheduled to begin operation in early 2019.

A second opportunity to ask questions about the proposal will take place from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, March 23, in the Weyerhauser Room at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave, Everett.
