Washington’s 2011 ballot-return deadline is fast approaching. This Tuesday is the deadline to have a ballot postmarked or returned to an official ballot drop-off site.
With the vote counting nearing the finish line, once trailing, Mountlake Terrace Democrat Luis Moscoso is now well ahead of Bothell’s Heidi Munson in the contest for District 1, Position 2 state representative.
State law required local election officials to certify votes Nov. 23. Early deadlines due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday meant certifications arrived too late for this issue. However, the numbers here reflect the latest available as of Nov. 22 and those numbers were expected to change very little, if at all.
Following the Nov. 2 deadline for return of ballots for the all-mail election, the Munson-Moscoso race probably has attracted the most attention locally because of the closeness of the contest.
Friday’s final results for this year’s Washington State Mock Election show that students favored Republican Dino Rossi over Democratic incumbent Patty Murray in the closely watched race for U.S. Senate.
Rossi defeated Murray 52.84 percent to 47.16 percent in the mock election.
United States Sen. Patty Murray will kick off her "Get Out the Vote" bus tour in Spokane Oct. 30. The tour will last three days with stops in Spokane, Walla Walla, Tri Cities, Yakima, Vancouver, Olympia, Tacoma, Bellingham, Mt. Vernon, Everett, and Edmonds. It will end Monday night with a free concert in Seattle.
