Northshore School District’s Natural Leaders Program, and specifically Natural Leaders themselves, received the 2016 Outstanding Human Services Program award from the North Urban Human Services Alliance (NUHSA) at its annual meeting held Dec. 6 at Shoreline City Hall.

“We are so proud of the outstanding work of our Natural Leaders,” said Northshore Superintendent Michelle Reid. “These are parents who volunteer countless hours to help connect our multicultural families to their schools. The district is grateful for our partnership.”

The Natural Leaders Program, which was developed by the Washington Alliance for Better Schools (WABS), engages parents as Natural Leaders to serve as multicultural bridges between students, families and schools. Ten Northshore schools participate in the Natural Leaders Program.

Each year NUHSA Annual Human Service Awards recognize the work of agencies, nonprofit organizations and communities to ensure the well-being of communities across North King County. NUHSA’s mission is to advocate support for health and human services in North King County through the promotion of partnerships between communities and providers.
