BETTY (ELIZABETH) FITZGERALD

In life as in death, Betty (Elizabeth) Fitzgerald showed grace, dignity and a fighting spirit, passing away peacefully at her residence in Bothell on December 24, 2017. Betty was born in Saskatchewan, Canada January 12, 1926.

In 1946 she met Canadian 1st Petty Officer, John (Jack) Fitzgerald at a WWII dance in Victoria. After a whirlwind courtship she married Jack in a double wedding. She was married to Jack for 67 years and enjoyed a life of family, travel and faith. Betty, Jack and their 4 children moved to Bothell in 1959 where two more children were born. Betty resided in Bothell for the remainder of her life.

Jack passed away in 2013 and son John in 1995. Betty is survived by their children Michael (Carol), Maureen, Bob, Steven, Patty (Stephen), 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was the loving mom that all the neighborhood kids wanted, caring friend and loving sister, a committed woman of faith who volunteered in her church and was a member of the Bothell YMCA where she took Silver Sneakers fitness classes into her late 80s.

Betty was an active member of St. Brendan Catholic Church of Bothell for 58 years where a funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 27, 2018. Reception to follow, all are welcome. Donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
