Lt. Col. James Wallace Anderson

Lt. Col. James Wallace Anderson, 93, of Bothell, took his last breath Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Overlake Hospital, surrounded by family. Jim was born September 15, 1922 in Rolfe Iowa, son of James C. and Violet Anderson.

This decorated veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, was awarded the Legion of Merit and 2 Bronze Stars, and finally retired from the Air Force in 1971 after 28 years of service.

Jim loved dancing, especially swing. Hobbies included photography, gardening, and genealogy.

Spending time with family and friends brought him joy.   Local kids took turns escorting Jim to school Veterans Day events; he was one of the few that could still fit into his uniform.

Survivors include: wife Missy Anderson; sons, Gary (Lesley) Anderson of Edmonds, Alan (Carol) Anderson of Malo, daughter Debbie McGibbon (Mike Lawson) of Seattle; stepchildren, Malaika Gabriel, Sarah Partap, and Cyndy Layoff, stepson Tom Bowers, four grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Laurine Hefty and May Mixdorf of Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn Anderson and second wife Gladys Anderson, brothers George and Fay Anderson of Rolfe Iowa.

Donations may be made in Jim’s name to your local veterans support group, any food bank, Heifer International, or Kiva.
