DeMiero is an educator and idea man/ Aug. 17 primary

I've never been that involved with politics because I never cared that much for the politicians. But that's changed in the upcoming election. A great person is running for State Representative in the First Legislative District as a democrat: Vince DeMiero. I'm writing to the Bothell/Kenmore Reporter to express my support for his campaign, and why Reporter readers should, too.
• He's an educator — In fact, he educated me when I was a student at Mountlake Terrace High School in the early '90s. Vince has had a profound positive influence on me and every student he's taught.
• He's invested in our community — With four kids educated in the Edmonds School District and roots in our area for more than 30 years, he'll know how to represent us well in Olympia.
• He's got support — Lots of support, whether from the thousands of students he's taught and coached, their families, the Municipal League of King County, the Edmonds Education Association, two former State Reps and a long list of educators, community leaders and members of our community.
• He's got ideas - Vince supports Initiative 1098 (state tax reform), job creation and protecting our environment.
I urge everyone to vote in August's primary election, and to educate yourself about Vince and the other candidates so you can cast an informed ballot.
Scott Bush, Kenmore
