As a resident of Kenmore, I share Larisa Lindemann’s concerns (Bothell-Kenmore Reporter, July 15) regarding the number of power outages we endure in Kenmore.
Apologies, the following is gross but a number of us are fed up with this situation.
Please don’t overlook Proposition No. 1. It’s the measure that if approved would increase the EvergreenHealth Board of Commissioners from five to seven members.
Bothell Mayor Andy Rheaume took office on Jan. 1, six months ago. A quarter of the way through his two year term, it is fair to ask, how is he doing? Let us count the ways:
This year, roughly 38,000 Washingtonians will hear the words, “you have cancer” and nearly 13,000 will die from it. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 13 years ago, and thanks partly to early diagnosis and research innovations, I’m grateful be one of the 15.5 million cancer survivors in the U.S. today. Unfortunately, too many Washingtonians continue to lose their life to this disease.
Donald J. Trump or Hillary Rodham Clinton? Those names have voters scratching (or shaking) their heads this election season. But here in Washington voters have a state wide candidate for high office who is thoughtful, honest, and experienced. In that race, Washington voters would be best served by reelecting Kim Wyman.
Back in March, Larry Francois gave notice to the school board that he was leaving as superintendent of Northshore School District. With a very short time line, there was a lot of pressure from the top administrators to hire an internal interim candidate.

In the Northshore area, we are fortunate to have access to quality public and higher education opportunities. Many of us understand that educational opportunities have wide ranging social and economic consequences, and that there are immediate and long term impacts for every one of us both directly and indirectly. This is supported by the fact that over 45 percent of the state’s yearly budget is allocated for education related funding, and in our immediate area the Northshore School District has over 2,000 employees, which makes it among the largest employers in the area. Poor educational opportunities have been linked to an increase in poverty, crime and poor health. And, while it would be simple to believe that we’re just lucky to live in a community that has good education, the reality is that we rely on active community members to maintain our educational values.

Do you like to right a wrong, like I do? Well, you only have a number of hours to do so regarding whether Washington state bathrooms, locker rooms and shower rooms should remain sprung open to whatever gender individuals want to enter.
Fellow Washingtonians who attended the recent Alzheimer’s Advocacy Forum in Washington, DC, tell us it’s encouraging to know we are making progress in the fight against this disease and other dementias.

I am concerned about the increasing frequency/duration of power outages in Kenmore over the past few years. Living in senior housing with dependence on an elevator makes outages particularly challenging.
