Cougars make a comeback against Union | Prep Roundup

The Bothell High football team gave up 10 early points, but came back to score 27 unanswered to defeat Union in their season opener last Friday night at Pop Keeney Stadium, 27-10.

First-time starting quarterback Austen Dahl had to overcome nerves, as he was sacked in the first quarter and also threw an interception, but rebounded to complete 11 of 18 passes for 165 yards and two scores.

Senior receiver Trent Sewell had a fine night, hauling in seven passes for 141 yards, two for touchdowns, and on the ground, junior Danny Wilson led the team with 17 carries for 97 yards. Overall, the Cougars outgained Union 433 yards to 120.

The team will take on Mount Si at home this Saturday night at 7 p.m. in another non-league contest.

Viks shut out Snohomish

The Inglemoor Vikings' fine defensive effort stopped Snohomish in its tracks last Friday at Snohomish, as the Vikings won their season opener 10-0.

Willie Augustavo got Inglemoor on the board in the second quarter with a field goal, and Jake Jones led off the second half with a 95-yard kickoff return to give the Viks all the scoring they would need.

The Vikings take on 3A power Juanita at Pop Keeney Stadium this Friday night at 7 p.m.
