Mariners are first Northlake minors team to win Tournament of Champions

The Northlake Little League minors Mariners won its league championship, as well as the District 8 Little League Tournament of Champions, on June 14 at the Northshore Athletic Fields.

The Kenmore-Bothell team defeated the North Bothell Giants, 10-3, in the Tournament of Champions, making it the first Northlake minors team in history to win the tourney.

Highlights included: Nicholas Chittum pitching more than four innings and striking out 10 batters; Alex Gregory hitting a two-RBI home run; Jacob Fried blasting an RBI triple. The game ended in the sixth inning with a Gregory double play at third base. The Mariners garnered seven runs in the first three innings.

Team members are: Lucas Hakamada, Alex Gregory, Nicholas Chittum, Nicholas Goodwin, Erick Stauffer, Blake Levenda, Jacob Fried, Collin Meyer, Colin James, Andrew Briand and Cole Dodge. Coaches are Brett Chittum, Katy Hayes and John Levenda.
