The Bothell High school wrestling team began the season Thursday with a meet against Skyline, losing 45-32.

But the meet was extremely quick, as just four matches were contested.

Skyline won six matches via forfeit for 36 of its 45 points. Bothell had its share of forfeit wins, taking four matches or 24 points.

Bothell’s Rene Arriola won in dominating fashion 12-3, for a major decision at 152 pounds against the Spartan’s Alex Smith.

The Cougars also got a big win at 170 pounds, as Brandon Davidson earned a major decision 16-5 against Skyline’s Michael Mecham.

The only pin of the night came 1 minute and 37 seconds into the 182-pound match.

Bothell’s Virgil Smith avoided the pin but lost at 145 pounds 7-0 to Skyline’s Joseph Gurke.
