The Inglemoor High School girls basketball team has battled through injuries and other adversity this season but has lost just two games. All the Vikings perseverance paid off Wednesday in Seattle, as they beat Garfield 76-30 to win the Crest Division title and earn a No. 1 seed to the KingCo tournament.
Inglemoor destroyed the Bulldogs during the first quarter with a 19-3 run. The 16-point lead was a statement that the girls wanted to finish the season strong and not wait until the final game of the year to win the division title.
Garfield played better on offense during the second and third quarters, but the Vikings kept the pressure on, outscoring the home team 45-23. The final quarter was an irrelevant 12-4 running of the clock.
Deja Strother led Inglemoor with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Kelly Conroy scored three three-pointers, finishing with 11 points. Viking junior Chijoke Emeka made the most of her playing time, scoring a season high 10 points.
Inglemoor will closeout the regular season at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Woodinville High School and try to avenge one of its only losses this season. The Vikings are 16-2 overall.
