The Bothell girls basketball team lost to Skyline Wednesday during the first round of the 4A KingCo playoffs 76-44 at Skyline High School. The loss bumps the Cougars into the consolation bracket of the tournament.

Bothell had a tough time keeping pace with the No. 1 team in the league, getting nearly doubled up during the first quarter, 15-8. The Cougars did a better job during the second quarter, scoring 13 points, but fell further behind overall as the Spartans took a 34-21 halftime lead.

The second half was more of the same as Skyline closed out the win.

Brenda Akoto led Bothell with 12 points.

The Cougars will face Eastlake Saturday in a loser-out game at 3 p.m. at Juanita High School.
