Cedar Park Christian loses in first round of Tri-District playoff | Prep boys basketball
February 19, 2013 · 9:55 AM
The Cedar Park Christian boys basketball team came into Saturday's first round playoff game against Lynden Christian with just one loss this season. But a nearly two week layoff took its toll on the Eagles as a slow start cost them a 52-39 loss.
Both teams struggled during the first quarter, scoring a combined 12 points. But Cedar Park's struggles continued during the second quarter and the second half. Down 16-14 at halftime, the Eagles could not get thier high-powered offense moving during the third quarter and the deficit ballooned to 10 points, 36-26.
That lead proved to be too much for Cedar Park to overcome, as they scored just 13 fourth-quarter points.
Cedar Park had just one player in double figures, as Trey Drechsel finished with 10 points and Ben Anderson had nine.
The Eagles will have to be perfect now through the rest of regionals if they want to make it to state. The team will start that journey on Saturday at they travel to Mount Vernon to take on La Center for a 4 p.m. game.
