Cedar Park Christian gets off to fast start, defeats Mission | Prep football
The Cedar Park Christian football team got off to a fast start Friday, scoring 18 unanswered first-half points en route to an 18-15 victory against Mission High School from British Columbia, Canada Friday at Cedar Park Christian High School in Bothell.
The Eagles quick start included an 88 yard opening kick return by Ben Anderson. The team would not complete the scoring opportunity, missing the chance to extend the lead with the extra point attempt. And it wouldn't be until the second quarter before the Eagles scored again.
Isaiah Ammon found Connor Johnson for a 26-yard touchdown pass during the second quarter. But again, the extra point attempt would fail, as the Eagles extended the lead to 12-0.
Cedar Park got on the board for the final time just before half time, as running back Andrew Rickman busted through the line to scamper 80 yards for a touchdown and exceed the 100-yard mark on the day.
The Eagles extra point attempt would fail for a third time, but Cedar Park's 18-0 lead seemed insurmountable for a Mission team struggling to complete drives.
Mission mounted a comeback during the fourth quarter, scoring 15 unanswered points, but it was too little too late, as the Eagles held on for the victory.
