4A KINGCO ROUNDUP

Football

Bothell High (6-3) will open up its playoff run against Bethel High (6-3) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Pop Keeney Field.

Inglemoor (6-3), a 31-14 winner over Newport last Friday, will play Auburn (9-0) either Friday or Saturday at a site to be determined.

Against Newport, Inglemoor quarterback Todd Campbell ran for two touchdowns (9 and 44 yards) and threw for two scores (30 yards to Craig Jacobson and 6 yards to Austin Perry). Blake Barnard added a 47-yard field goal for the Vikings.

Inglemoor kicker and soccer star Anthony Arena has been selected to the U.S. national under-20 soccer team and will train in Madrid, Spain, in November to prepare for the CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) Under-20 World Cup qualifying in early 2009.

Arena, a Kenmore resident, plays for the Crossfire Premier soccer club and was named to the 4A Kingco first-team special-teams squad last year.

Arena will be joining a squad that boasts nine professional players, including a pair from Germany and Italy.

Volleyball

In its last regular-season match, Bothell earned its 10th league win by sweeping Inglemoor, 25-13, 25-15, 25-12, at Inglemoor last Tuesday.

Runners from Bothell and Inglemoor took three of the top six spots at Saturday’s 4A Bi-District Championship meet at Lincoln Park in Seattle.

Viking Billy Wilkens ran the 5,000-meter course in 16:02 to finish fourth, and Cougar Trey Parry (16:03) and Alan Villavicencio (16:05) placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
