Cedar Park Christian’s fastpitch softball team played University Prep last Tuesday and took a major victory, 21-2.
Senior Anna Lowery had three hits, including one double and one home run, while teammate and junior Shanae Stafford had three hits, including one double and one triple.
During Friday’s home game against Lakeside, Cedar Park let down and left defeated, 14-0.
Track and field
Since the first meet went so well, Cedar Park was ready for Wednesday’s BCS meet. In the 100 meters, senior Jordan Scholten took first with a time of 11.59, while Alyssa Lundberg took ninth in the girls’ 100 meters with a time of 13.97.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Cedar Park swept the first three places with Josh Zoellick in first place with a time of 16.62, Josh Moore in second and Riley McDuffy in third. Sophomore Brooke Milliken participated in the 3,200 meters and took first place with a time of 12.37.43.
As the team looked forward to traveling to Yakima last Saturday, they received information the passes were closed due to the snow. Instead, they participated in the Kent-Meridian Invite. Senior Joel Roberts came in ninth in the discus with a throw of 113-07. Senior Josh Moore tied with four other people for seventh place in the high jump with 5-06.
In Bush’s 195-198 victor last week, Cedar Park senior and returning star player Jeff Doherty had 44 strokes, while fellow senior Grant Zapara had 47 strokes.
Ryan Zeller, a fifth-grader from Woodside Elementary in the Mill Creek/Bothell area, received second place overall in the Elementary Novice Division at the recent inline speed-skating Pacific Northwest Meet in Bremerton.
It is the highest placement in more than three years in the sport for the Everett Express Inline Speed Skating Team member.
When asked how he felt about winning second place, Ryan replied, “It’s really cool to win second place out of all the skaters from three states!”
WAVE Aquatics Swim Team, a local USA Swimming-affiliated competitive swim club, is now registering swimmers from ages 6 and up for spring and summer season.
Practices are held at Bothell and Redmond pools and Juanita High.
