Cedar Park boys, girls defeat Northwest / Prep basketball

Boys Basketball
At their first home game, fans dressed up to participate in a school “white out” in support of their Eagles’ basketball team. Maybe it was that excitement and support that brought them home their first home victory against Northwest, 43-24. Victor Sviridyuk led the team with 10 points, while Russel Bettinger added eight and Scottie Lin and Adam Stephenson each added seven more.
Girls Basketball
The Lady Eagles celebrated their third win of the season against University Prep last Wednesday by a 55-44 count. Team captains Rachel Staudacher and Anna Brown fought hard for a win and contributed 22 and 14 points, respectively.
Senior Brown says, “The chemistry between the girls is really good. This year is the closest we’ve all been. We hang out on and off the court. I could tell anything to any girl on my team.”
During the “white out” at Cedar Park, the girls also achieved their first home victory against Northwest, 42-25. Staudacher led with 13 points, while fellow sophomore Mikaela Raschick added 10 points.
After a couple of games, Brown admits what the team needs to work on: “We need to work on coming out at the beginning of the game 100 percent strong, instead of waiting till the second half to kick it into gear. I think we’re working on intensity level and communicating well on the floor.”
