Bothell/Kenmore kids lead curling team in championships

Sean Beighton's curling team (Sean Beighton, Derrick McLean of Bothell, Sam Galey, Joe Purvis of Kenmore, coach Murray Beighton) representing Washington state won twice on Wednesday, but lost on Thursday to secure a 6-3 record at the 2010 Junior National Curling Championships in Bemidji, Minn.
They are ranked fourth heading into the playoff round, which begins Friday evening at the Bemidji Curling Club. The finals are set for Jan. 30.
The winner of the U.S. Junior Nationals moves on to represent the United States at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships in Flims, Switzerland, March 5-14.
