Kollman scores 27 as Bothell beats Juanita in opener

Despite quickly losing a solid halftime lead, the Bothell High boys basketball team held on for a nonconference victory over Juanita, 78-77, on Monday at Bothell High School.

Senior wing Josh Kollman led all scorers with 27 points in the season opener, including a critical steal and free-throw in the final seconds of the game. Jake Modjo hit the go-ahead layup to put Bothell on top 77-75, and scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Bothell’s Cameron Tyson finished with 15 points, 12 of which came in the first half. The Cougars (1-0) led 47-37 at halftime, but Juanita (0-1) opened the third quarter with a 11-0 run. Bothell responded to tie the game and lead 61-60 after three quarters.

Juanita’s Ravi Regan-Hughes led the Rebels with 17 points. Ryan Troutman had 14 points, and Brighton Maughan and Zach Miller both had 12 points each.

Next, Juanita is scheduled to open the KingCo 3A schedule at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 at Redmond High School. Bothell is set to play a nonconference game at 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Edmonds-Woodway High School.
